Brampton is a market town situated in the northeast of Cumbria. The main street of Brampton is one of character with its wide partly cobbled surface with the octagonal Moot Hall being one of the market place features.
The town has much in the way of history from its bull ring in front of the Moot Hall which was once used for bull baiting to its historic buildings, many of local red sandstone.
Scotch Arms renowned as the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie occupied whilst he received the keys to Carlisle upon its surrender.
You will find a statue to Hadrian standing in the town centre as from here Hadrian's Wall is only a short distance. There is a statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle which stands on the moat.
