Mayenne is part of the  Pays de la Loire region it boarders Manche, Maine-et-Loire, Ille-et-Vilaine, Orne, and Sarthe. Here you will find the Normandy landing beaches, Mont St Michel, and the rugged pink granite coast of northern Brittany From the prehistoric caves at Saulges to the Roman remains at Jublains,  to a  1000 historic chateaux, 500 museums, 75 resorts, 30 spas,  there is a lot to fit in with just one trip you my find you just have to return, with the good country lanes, national roads or the fast motorways system it is easy to get around, there are over  40 different wines, and a 100 different cheeses, for the traveller to experience.

Laval is the main city well situated for trips to Le Mans, Angers and Rennes.  The old town is delightful with an imposing feudal castle that looks out over the Mayenne River. The region is largely agricultural producing some world-class race horses.
