Split is famous because of Diocletian`s palace. The historic core of Split with Diocletian palace is among the first urban complexes to enter the list of the UNESCO world heritage in the year 1979. The Emperors palace is among the most important works from the late Roman period, not only because of the original architectural forms which announced the early Chrisitan, Byzantium and early medieval art. In the universal history of architecture it is noted as the amalgam of the characteristic late Roman forms: stated is the citadel, the military camp (castrum) but also the rural complex. Still with its central symbolic contents- mausoleum, the temple where Diocletian is culturally respected as the deus praesens- and in the precise correlation with the newly introduced ceremonial celebration of the emperors role in the world, which he is trying to reform from its foundations. The building of this magnificent construction began, most probably, in the fall of the year 298. The palace is rectangular (around 215*180m)- it is somewhat adjusted to the configuration of the ground- with two wide, shadowed by porches, vertically crossed streets (Cardo and Decumans) which lead from its centre towards the four doors in the centre of each side of the rectangle. Its south side had a residental character in a narrower cense- the emperors quarters and auditoriums. In the north section was the gynaecium Iovensis, the military factory where woollen uniforms were made. It was supplied richly with water from the 9km long aqueduct from the spring of river Jadro nearby Solin, with the capacity of 129,600 m3 a day, sufficient for Split today, a town with 200,000 inhabitants. Split offers a lot of places to get fun at day and night. One of attractions in Split is sandy beach-Bačvice (it is just 300 meters away from house). In the summer, the beach is overfull. You haven“t even place to put your towel. There are also some organised trips to peninsula Čiovo, Krka waterfaals and islands, such as olta and Brač.
